Pink_Peony_DA.jpg

Peranakan Peony celebrates the stunning beauty of this feminine flower and traditional symbol of royalty, rank and honour in Chinese culture. Inspired by the work of Eurasian batik designer Eliza van Zuylen, this print is a fusion of Chinese, European and Indonesian cultures. The 50-limited edition mono-prints were created by hand using Japanese woodblock printing. Each artwork was crafted from hand-carved timber blocks, watercolour pigments, a bamboo baren and Japanese washi paper. This print used two timber blocks.
